★ Hello Fashionistas! Today's blog post is all about jorts!
Since jorts usually come in a denim wash (unless custom), feel free to wear bold colors in your top to really make the outfit shine, and of course, wear matching accessories to pull the outfit together!
But, when you wear longer socks with an outfit that leaves little-to-no skin, it makes the skin that IS shown a focal feature, thus making you look taller!
This verse speaks to me, because yesterday afternoon I watched a sermon all about inviting God into your difficulties in the midst of the storm and that sermon really spoke to me, and this verse coincides with it beautifully!
You see, it is easy to focus only on the trials and tribulations that you are facing:
Jorts are gaining popularity rapidly along with other fashion items that were once ridiculed, like Crocs and cargo pants. From short-shorts to jorts a "new" trend has now commenced!
Quotations around "new", because jorts have been around for quite a long time and have been on the shelves since the 1960s!
And apparently, they're here to stay too, so with that short history on jorts, let's hop into the tips on how to style them!

1. Wear A Tight-Top
Getting the most basic tip out of the way, pairing a tighter piece with a baggier one is always a great way to make an outfit more feminine, which is exactly why you see these elements paired together so often in outfits!
Since jorts usually come in a denim wash (unless custom), feel free to wear bold colors in your top to really make the outfit shine, and of course, wear matching accessories to pull the outfit together!
2. Wear Longer Socks
Weird tip, but just trust me on this one! First of all, this outfit is so cute and I am obsessed with it! As mentioned in the previous tip, the matching accessories really make this outfit pop!
And the longer socks are yet another addition. When you see a jorts outfit on a woman, it tends to make her look shorter, because less skin is showing and this is exactly why you might feel shorter when wearing baggier clothing - this is because none of your body is being elongated, and this effect is usually given by showing more skin.
This tip is a very small one, yet very necessary if you want to convey a more even silhouette!
3. Add a Third Layer
This tip is great for adding more spice to an outfit! This outfit looks really basic overall with a very minimal color scheme, but adding the third layer in the sweater is what's really giving the outfit more dimension and character! You don't necessarily need to tie a sweater or jacket in this way, but even adding a light flannel will give off the same effect!
4. Add a Belt
Belts are a no-brainer when it comes to any baggy bottom layer in an outfit. The belt pictured here really accentuates the waist and makes the outfit appear more flattering and snatched, so if that's what you are going for when wearing baggier outfits, I highly recommend wearing belts! As a plus, they come in so many different colors and styles, so they are truly perfect for any aesthetic!
5. Make Them YOUR OWN!
I've been wearing jorts for years (all my modest household girls get this, haha) and I can't stress enough the simple tip of making them your own! A lot of popular jorts outfits are pretty basic, monotone and kind of lackluster, but they don't have to be! Clothing pieces are meant to be paired with other clothing pieces, so if you have a particular style, feel free to mix and match the pieces you already own and use jorts as a base layer!
Also, please do not buy jorts at popular retail stores. You will literally waste money as they are currently being upcharged all for the sake of a "trend". Check out your local thrift store instead! The men's section is really good for this as well!
That is all for my post on A Girl's Guide To Jorts! I hope you enjoyed today's post!
Without further ado, let's get into our weekly bible verse!
John 16:33(NIV): "In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
You see, it is easy to focus only on the trials and tribulations that you are facing:
"Once I move out and get away, then I will be happy", "Once I get a new boss, I'll finally be able to smile at work", "Once this sickness leaves my body, I can be nicer to everyone"
You see the trend here? We tend to believe that once we get out of the storm, things will immediately get better, but that is far from the truth. In life, we will face many storms and that is just how life works, but how we DEAL with them determines our character!
Sure, you can sit and mope over your situation, or you can invite God INTO your situation and allow him to take the wheel while you are in it. You can be happy and thank God while bad things are happening! Your faith is being tested to prove to you just how strong you really are! 💜

Hey Toni! I honestly really want a pair of jorts; they’re great because they would really add some edge to my style and are modest at the same time! But as you said, wasting money at a retail store isn’t worth it so I may try thrifting!😊
ReplyDeleteI love the fitted tops idea!! I have plenty of those that would pair perfectly with a pair of these, so let’s hope I can find a pair before school starts!🤞🏽
Amen to that scripture!! I oftentimes depend my happiness on success or based on “overcoming” something. This summer, I’ve been reading a book called Atomic Habits and it definitely called me out on this for sure lol! As you stated we habitually tell ourselves “once I do this… THEN I’ll be happy”. But God has given us unconditional joy, which means we have to have faith that God uses ALL things in our lives. Even the waiting season, which teaches us patience; the pushing season, which teaches us endurance; the “rejoicing for others when we haven’t received our results yet” season, which teaches us humility. In ALL situations, God has something to teach us! Therefore, we must have faith that even when we’re not in the most favorable position, we must be JOYFUL know that God will come through! We must never forget that He has OVERCOME the world and that there is IMPORTANCE to our trials and tribulations because it TEACHES us!
Amen girlfriend; I enjoyed this blog post (hopefully I find some jorts lol😭) keep spreading your passion for fashion and ofc Christ Jesus!🙌🏽
Thank you so much!! I hope you find some 🤞🏼 Thrifting will definitely be useful! As for what you have said, I totally agree! Each season leaves room for growth and truly helps us build our character as people! If everything was completely perfect all of the time, we would never need to test ourselves so God gives us these things, not to break us, but to allow us to grow & hopefully invite Him into that growth! 🙏🏼
DeleteThank you for the kind words & wisdom! 🤍
