Hello Fashionistas! Today's post is all about how you can have the perfect "Summer Girl" aesthetic! For many of you, Summer is already here or soon approaching, so if you want to have the perfect beach wardrobe, keep reading!
A lot of these tips are very heavily inspired by the Coconut Girl aesthetic which you might have actually heard of a few years back, which originated around the same time the VSCO girl aesthetic was still popular!

Okay, so what does the perfect Summer Girl consist of?
Here's a little starter pack for you!
- Bold Colors
- Florals
- Crop Tops and/or Tube Tops
- Hoodies
- Bikinis
- Scrunchies
- Claw Clips
- Trucker Hats
So now that we know the basics, let's get into some simple styling tips!
1. Pair Matching Colors
The entire outfit doesn't have to be perfectly coordinated (the mismatch is the fun of it) but having some pieces match with one another is a simple way to make your outfit look really intentional! Even having the rim of your sunglasses match the strap of your bag is an easy way to achieve this!
2. Pair Bikini Tops/Crops with Skirts, Shorts or Jeans
Doing this is a very simple way to incorporate the coastal and beachy look to an outfit! If you're more on the modest side, no worries! You can always wear a tank under a crop top or opt for a longer shirt with similar designs!
3. Go for a Looser Fit
Looser fitted clothing are really helpful to give off the casual vibe, which is the whole point of this style! I suggest shopping for some baggy sweatpants/joggers and pairing them with a tighter top, like the ones mentioned above!
4. Layering Jewelry
Layering jewelry is really helpful for many aesthetics, but the layered jewelry in this style is what makes it different! You can find some really great jewelry pieces similar to these here on sites like Etsy! For this style, I highly recommend shopping for shell jewelry, shark teeth jewelry, fruit & flower jewelry and coastal jewelry like anchors and pairing them with one another.
5. Tote Bags
Instead of having a really firm and sturdy bag, totes are the move! Once again, they are perfect for the casual vibe, plus you can fit loads of things in them for your beach trip! They also can easily be paired with all the outfits and styling tips we've already went through!
6. Go For The "Dad" Vibe
I like to call this the "dad" vibe because it consists of really baggy clothing very similar to what you can find in the men's section of Goodwill, like neutral colored button-ups! I don't know about you guys, but I am a huge fan of older shows like Full House, Sister Sister, the original Goosebumps series, etc and I guarantee that you will find very similar outfits in any of the episodes - so if you want a retro vibe, that's a plus!
7. Wear Shirts/Hoodies With Messages on Them!
If you live in a coastal and beachy environment, make sure to represent what you stand for! Back in the VSCO girl days, you'd see shirts and hoodies like this a lot, but no matter the time, these are still great messages to spread!
8. Use Bold Colors With Patterns
These are all for the styling tips! Buttt, before we get into weekly bible verse, let's talk about Summer. If you are literally tired of having boring Summers each year, I'm gonna give you the spill on some simple things that you can do for fun, without even traveling to another state or the beach!
If there's a fair in your local town, make sure you go! They are perfect for the entire family, admission is usually pretty cheap and you can invite your friends for a really good time!
Pick up a new hobby! It doesn't have to be skating or longboarding, but new hobbies are great ways to fill in some time and they help with your "character development" as I like to call it (actor terms) because they make you more interesting overall and are great conversation starters to make friends with other people with similar interests!
Go swimming! If you have the luxury of having a pool at your house or in your neighborhood, take advantage of it! And if you don't know how to swim, plenty of rec centers host swimming lessons for kids and teens during the Summertime, so why not join in for something to do?
Pick up a good book! Remember when you were little and school would give you a Summer reading list - Why not make one of your own? Sure...there's no prize, butttt reading is yet another way to fill in some time and there are so many interesting books out there!
Host a sleepover! Grab your closest friends and watch movies, eat junk food and have a blast! Also, outdoor sleepovers are really cool, especially if you have a trampoline or a back deck!
Grab some ice cream! Bonus points if you ride bikes downtown while going to grab it! (of course with supervision, and if you're on the older side, it is great to bring a friend along!)
Have a painting session! You can do this alone or with friends, either way it is a super relaxing and creative way to spend your time! I've also heard of a fun painting exercise that you can do with a friend or your partner - swap canvases after a few minutes of painting and keep doing that until the canvas is finished! A joint-painting is a really great way to express your creativity with one another!
Document everything! If you are going to be doing any of these things, why not record it all? You don't have to post it or anything, but this is what Summer is all about! Making memories! At the end of Summer you can edit it all together and have a movie night with the people you spent your Summer with! Your "movie" would be such an amazing thing to look back on in the future!
With that, here's our weekly bible verse!
Proverbs 3:13 (NIV): Blessed are those who find Wisdom.
This is such a short verse, but to be honest the entire book of Proverbs is very wise and informative, so I highly suggest reading it!
This verse spoke to me because Wisdom is something that you can't buy, you know? And sure, it can come with age, but that's not really how you attain it - because trust me - not every adult is one with common sense!
So...how do we attain true wisdom?
True Wisdom comes from reading the BIBLE. The bible is the only book in the world that gives you life's BLUEPRINT! Everything you need is right there if you look hard enough and open your mind to it!
And as you start your bible study journey, just know you don't need some elaborate plan! Social media makes it all seem so complicated and intimidating, but trust me - if you come to God with an open mind and prayer, He will lead you on the exact journey that you need to go on in your bible journey!

Hey Toni! Girl, I just started getting into summer fashion; my fav season clothing is fall and maybe winter. This summer, I plan on wearing popping colors, looser fits (def palazzo pants), scrunchies, & hair clips. I’ve gotten into the natural hair aesthetic with hair clips!✨
ReplyDeleteAs far as activities, my fam and I have been to our local fair a couple of times; my siblings and I have been on several rides together! Also, I’ve been filming several things we’ve done over the summer to possibly post it on our YT channel!✨
What a WISE scripture… literally lol! Yesss, wisdom can only be obtained by reading the word, seeking wise individuals who are strong in the word for advice, and even ASKING God!
There’s a scripture: James 1:5 “ “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Therefore, if there is something that we want wisdom on, all we have to do is ASK GOD and he will give it GENEROUSLY! This is significant because he says TO ALL. He doesn’t just include Christians, or adults, or intelligent individuals. It’s FOR ALL! Meaning, I can be young and STILL receive HIS wisdom. Amen!🙌🏽
Yesss, I wholeheartedly agree! What a great scripture you've shared 🙌
DeleteI'm glad you are getting into Summer fashion - looser fits are so cozy and I am glad you are embracing your natural hair! 💫
