Hello Fashionistas! Today's post is all about how you can glow up for Valentines day! Or, if you'd prefer, Galentines day for all the ladies who'd rather kick it with some friends!
No matter which one you like, either way we can all agree that there's never a bad time to show yourself some love and do some self-improvement! So, in today's post I'm going to give you some glow up tips on all things fashion, beauty and hygiene!
So, without further ado, let's get into today's post!
Disclaimer: All pictures used are not my own and I hold no rights to them whatsoever.
1. Pick A Color Scheme
This is a step you don't necessarily have to follow, but if you want to scream "Valentine" The stereotypical romantic reds and soft pinks are generally the most used colors! I have also seen some really great Valentines looks featuring other colors and even darker goth themes, so you don't have to go for pink or red if that isn't your thing! Just try to have a vision of what you want and stick to it!
2. Know If You're Going Fancy To Be Fancy Or Casual
Either route is great! Just make sure you're dressing appropriately for the occasion, because I'm pretty sure you don't want to wear hoodies and sweats at a 5-star restaurant!
Also, keep in mind that a "fancier" look doesn't necessarily mean you need to wear a dress or skirt! You can wear pants and still be very classy!
3. Do Your Hair
You don't have to go all out and get an extravagant haircut (unless you want) or get your hair professionally styled, but simply putting effort into your hair is something super simple that you can do to elevate your appearance! Here's a couple examples of what you can do:
- Wash your hair
- Brush your hair
- Do an intricate braiding style
- Add in color-coordinated bows, hair clips, etc
Doing these simple things will not only make you feel more attractive, but you'll look it as well!
4. Take A Relaxing Bath
I love a nice relaxing bath! And personally, I think every glow-up requires one! You end up feeling so rejuvenated and the whole setting is a vibe!
Lighting some candles, throwing in a bath bomb and applying some body scrubs...literally the definition of peace.
With that being said, here are some great additions that you can shop from Amazon to add into your hygiene routine!
5. Do Some Skincare
I recommend doing some skincare the night before with PM products and then when you wake up on Valentines day using your AM products as well! Hopefully you already have an AM-PM skincare regimen, but if not, I highly recommend you start!
Also, another thing you can try is facemasks! I have personally never used facemasks, but people say they are very refreshing and give your skin a healthy glow - so they might be worth a shot! Just make sure you are always looking at the ingredients of any product you use so you don't cause any additional issues or irritation!
My top skincare recommendations:
I could not do an entire glow-up post without sharing some of my favorite products! So, here's a couple links to some skin care products that I use!
- Nivea Face-Wash (I personally only use the normal skin version, but this is the closest I could find online!)
- CeraVe AM & PM Moisturizer (I love these so much! If you deal with having your skin flake during the day because of dryness - especially in the Winter, these are great ways to keep your face moisturized and refreshed!)
- Jade Roller & Gua Sha (Love using these! They help reduce puffiness and they help increase blood flow in your face!)
6. Have A Makeup Look
You don't have to go overboard with this, but simply adding a heart on your face or doing a red lip (or red lip-gloss/balm shade) is a nice addition! Holidays only come once a year, so why not have a little fun?
7. Do Your Nails!
If you've got it like that, go ahead and get your nails done at the shop! But, for the some of us who have never been to a nail shop or don't really want to spend it - I got you, girl!
Here are some of my favorite nail art videos that show you how to do some really great nail looks from home, with what you have already!
And I literally mean simple designs that only take polish and toothpicks, that kinda simple!
If you're running low on nail polish, here's some great recommendations for you:
