How To Be A "Pink It-Girl"

 

Hey everyone! Let me start out by saying if your favorite color is pink and if you were obsessed with Hello Kitty when you were younger... you're in luck!

I lovingly coined this aesthetic as "Pink It-Girl" because I feel like this is the style that an updated Y2K Barbie would die for!

Basically a branch off of the soft-girl aesthetic, the pink it-girl aesthetic is one of a kind! I like to think of it as pink Y2K princess mixed with childlike elements (Sanrio elements to be exact). 

These pink it-girls have a closet with the base color of pink and they take pink very seriously! I personally will never be able to be a pink it-girl because of the simple fact that purple is my favorite color- and I think that that is pretty apparent based on my blog! But no worries, pink doesn't necessarily need to be your favorite color either if you want to give this style a go!

And, just a reminder: You don't have to go as far as dyeing your hair pink or anything! You still can let you inner Barbie out with these simple tips!

Crop Tops

As a girl who dresses fairly conservatively, I can't imagine showing this much skin, but in the pink it-girl aesthetic there is a lot of cropped shirts featured! And, if you're into that - there is also usually belly button piercings to go along with it!



Mini Skirts

Like seen in the previous photos, mini skirts (and shorter) are key features in this aesthetic. I feel like with all the skin being shown in this aesthetic, that this vibe is all about expressing your femininity shamelessly. Also, I'm getting Y2K vibes with these skirts!


Knee-High Socks

These definitely bring in the school girl aspect into this aesthetic! Since being the pink it-girl is all about being cute, knee-high socks are a simple way to achieve that when wearing a skirt.


Ribbons

Ribbons are a great way (for any aesthetic) if you want a cute way to add feminine touches to an outfit! In the pink it-girl aesthetic you'll find ribbons in hair, on bags, on handles - pretty much anywhere!


Sanrio

Pink it-girls are obsessed with anything kawaii (cute) and sweet! They are in love with Hello Kitty, Anime...basically anything Korean-inspired!

The Sanrio franchise has so many different clothing items and accessories that it isn't hard to find anything that matches this aesthetic! They've also paired with many different stores like Forever 21, so It's likely you can find clothes similar in your local stores!









Also, as some extras in this aesthetic, you'll likely be pairing your outfits with items such as:

  • Corsets
  • Cardigans
  • Earmuffs (in colder months)
  • Barrettes
  • Mary Janes
  • Fuzzy Platform boots
  • And just as an extra - you'll likely see pink it-girls wearing their hair in childlike pigtails or braids.

That's a lot to take in, isn't it? Like I said, the pink it-girl aesthetic is basically a mash-up of different styles, and it has so many features!

But...if you're anything like me, you're probably thinking - this style isn't for me, because it is so...well - the opposite of conservative to say the least!

No worries! Here are some ways to make it more modest while still being equally as cute!


LET'S MAKE IT MODEST

  • Opting for longer skirts and longer tops!

  • Wearing pants instead!

  • Make it baggy! This helps you still get the streetwear vibe, while being a pink it-girl at the same time!

    Like pink but not into a lot of the trends that speak Barbie. I do like the more conservative approach with it incorporated.
