Hey everyone! Today's post is all about How To Dress Better WITHOUT Buying More Clothes! I honestly just felt the need to do a post like this, especially with school season coming up!
If you aren't able to buy new clothes right away, or if you have clothes but they don't fit your aesthetic/style, here's your go-to guide on how to freshen up your clothing to make them better and more pleasing to the eye!
Before we move on to the tips, have you followed the blog yet? If so, thank you so much! And if you haven't, I hope you consider it because I love having you here!
Anyways, let's get into those tips!
1. Look in the mirror.
- I know you are all probably thinking that that tip is a no-brainer, but I have seen way too many cases where people have stains on their clothing or wrinkles in their shirts, so just make sure you look in the mirror before leaving home so you can see any imperfections in your outfit and address them!
2. Make sure your clothes are washed.
- Even if your clothes aren't stained, if you haven't washed them in a while they can get a little dingy looking, so if you have clothes that have been sitting in your laundry basket for weeks that you've been wearing over-and-over, make sure you put them in the washer so they can look fresh and clean!
3. Make sure your clothes fit your body well.
- I don't mean that if you have baggy jeans that that's a bad thing - but if you're in the situation where your jeans are too loose around the waist, a simple fix is adding a belt, or if your shirt is way too baggy simply tie it in the middle or tuck it in for a quick fix! These are common mistakes people have in their outfits that make their outfits look like they put 0 effort into them!
- If you are looking to add some visual interest to your outfit and just want it to look a bit less bland a simple way to do this is layering! Simply adding a cute lacey tank over a plain t-shirt will easily make an outfit look more put together! If you want more tips on layering, check out this post!
- I recommend this tip for people who have less clothing to style their outfits with, or just for people who want to create classy looks without breaking the bank! And a simple way to do so is by coordinating colors! Another word for this is creating monochrome outfits! I have an entire post dedicated to styling monochrome outfits so if you want to create a great look with one color palette, make sure to check out this post!
- This tip is for my girls who are convinced they have nothing to wear. So if you're literally wearing the same 3 t-shirts and same pair of jeans every day, don't be afraid to add accessories! I cannot stress this enough, so that is probably why I mention accessories in almost every post! Accessories can take an outfit from bland to fabulous in minutes, so don't sleep on them! Adding a cute purse, cute earrings, or even a simple necklace can make an outfit look better! If you want more tips on this, check out these posts!
- Want to make the same ol' shirt look new? Roll up the sleeves! This will not only make the shirt look a little more interesting, it will also help your arms look thinner if the shirt is baggy. This helps the outfit seem less masculine and more refined.
8. Piece together outfits thoughtfully.
- I'm all about self-expression through fashion and making looks your own but occasionally, if you do too much your outfit can look more tacky than stylish, so make sure you put thought into each and every piece you're going to wear. (Ex: Zebra print, leopard print and huge gold earrings may not be the best idea together in an outfit, so be aware of what works well together and what doesn't!)
- When all else fails and you're still stuck with a plain and seemingly "basic" outfit, add a contrasting color! This will create a statement in your outfit and will instantly make it look more thought out and stylish.
- If your hair is messy and your makeup is looking amateur, putting together a cute outfit won't do much for your overall appearance, so make sure you look at every little detail in your ensemble so you can look as put together as possible!
- To go along with tip number 10, make sure your nails are looking good! If you have dirt under your fingernails, chipped nail polish or if your false nails are getting overgrown because you haven't been to the nail salon in a while, that's giving the impression that you don't care about your appearance or that you're unhygienic, so make sure your nails look just as good and clean as your outfit!
- A girl can wear the best outfit in the world, but if she's hunched over, timid and not smiling or keeping eye-contact, that is an almost instant turn-off! So, with that being said make sure you walk with confidence, talk with confidence and know your self-worth! You're beautiful!
- If you are in need of any more confidence tips surrounding what you wear I have a post all about it, so feel free to check it out here.
Yassss! These are some great tips for turning a very plain/boring outfit into fabulousness!✨ I also love the tip to keep your nails clean/cute; it really does emphasize the character of how you carry yourself as an individual! This is so inspirational, thanks for sharing! 🤗
