How To Dress For Your Body Type

Hey everyone! Today I am going to be doing a blog post all about How To Dress For Your Body Type. This can be hard to do especially if you feel like you are extremely short or extremely tall, but in this post I'll be giving my top tips on how you can dress for your body type and create looks that feel like they're tailored especially for your body!

1. Tips For The Tall Folks

For all of you who feel like you just can't make an outfit look good because of your height, then I'm here to help you! Here are my top tips on how you can make an outfit look good, even if you feel like you're taller than average!

  • Skinny jeans. Skinny jeans were made specifically for tall people, so why not rock them? Steer away from capri pants because these tend to make your pants look like they've been shrunk in the wash and small on your body.

  • Belts. Belts accentuate your waist and portion off your body (torso and legs) creating a separation which will break up your length and help your body look a little more proportional.

  • Tuck in your shirt! This trick gives off the same illusion as the belt and is helpful to create a bit of a separation between your torso and legs

  • Medium length skirts are the way to go! Wearing mini-skirts will only make it look like you are wearing a skirt that is 2 sizes too small and if you wear a long maxi skirt that'll only make you look taller than you already are, so aim for a skirt that is right in the middle, because that will fit your body better than both mini and maxi skirts!

  • Don't feel like you need to shy away from heels! A lot of tall girls feel like they need to stick to sneakers or flats, but honestly you don't need to! If you want to wear heels go for it!

  • Lastly, stand tall! A lot of tall girls feel insecure because of their height. Please do not crouch or try to conceal your height! You are beautiful! (most models are very tall!) so be confident in you!

2. Tips For The Petite Girls

So, you're a bit short and you're finding it hard to make an outfit that looks right on your body. No problem! There are tons of different ways that petite girls can make looks that are cute, all while looking good on their body type! Here are my favorites:

  • Avoid oversized clothing and accessories. Wearing items that are big or over bulky is not the way to go if you are a shorter person! They make you look even shorter than you already may be.

  • Steer away from skinny jeans - the straight leg look doesn't work as well on shorter girls as it does on taller ones. Also, showing some ankle helps! Why? This gives the illusion that you have longer legs!

  • Vertical stripes! These are a bit hard to find, but trust me - vertical stripe patterns work! These make your torso look a lot longer when you have them on a shirt.

  • Roll up your sleeves! Similar to the tip about showing some ankle, show some of your arm! Rolling up your sleeves makes your arms look longer!
