Hello Fashionistas! Today I am going to be
doing a post all about Grunge Aesthetic
Fashion.
The grunge aesthetic is something that we
have all seen over social media!
But...did you do know there's three types of
grunge?
Let me educate you...
Dark Grunge is characterized by its dark colors, dramatic eye makeup and bold silver
jewelry! This grunge style is moody and the epitome of edgy!
Soft Grunge leans more on the casual side! It features flannels, graphic tees, baggy
shirts and layered clothing. Honestly, soft grunge really just gives skater girl vibes to
me!
Lastly, Fairy Grunge is more bohemian-inspired and free! It features crystals,
cardigans, long skirts, embroidered bags and clothing and features a lot of the color
green!
So, in today's blog post I'm going to break down how you can style each of these
versions of the grunge aesthetic!
And, if you haven't already - make sure to follow the blog!

First things first! Now that we've classified the different genres of grunge, let's get into the staple pieces in any grunge girl's wardrobe!
- Long sleeve T-Shirts
- Striped T-shirts
- Oversized T-Shirts & hoodies
- Plaid pants and skirts
- Ripped Jeans
- Silver Jewelry
- Chain Jewelry
- Crystal Jewelry
- Belts
- Balack Converse
- Doc Martens
- Checkered Patterns
Now that we've got that covered, let's get into the tips!
1. Keep It Simple
In general, grunge fashion really doesn't need to feature too many elements in one outfit. You can be as simple or as bold as you want! A vintage baggy tee shirt, some jeans, Doc Martens and silver jewelry will do more than enough to show your style!
2. Make The Shirts Interesting
There are so many online shops out there where you can find some really great T-Shirts! So, make sure you are buying some with really cool designs! Band logos, brand logos, art, literally anything! These are especially great to pair with more of a basic outfit because they still help you to show off your style!
If you're going dark grunge, make sure you're wearing darker colors on the shirts (black, grey, black & white). If you're going soft grunge, you can have a little more freedom with the colors. If you are going the fairy grunge route, I recommend merging dark colors and tones of green. In addition to that, you can't go wrong with fairy or celestial and earthy designs.
3. Layer Your Clothing
Layering your clothing gives so much visual interest, and it makes you look 10x more stylish! The simple act of wearing a long-sleeve shirt underneath a short sleeve, wearing tights under shorts and even wearing tights under ripped jeans gives very nice texture to an outfit, so make sure you are doing this as much as possible!
4. Go Oversized
Oversized clothing is a staple in a grunge wardrobe, plus they're super comfortable to wear!
5. Accessorize
Obviously this step depends on what style of grunge you're into but accessorizing really helps add on to an outfit, which is something I will literally never stop saying! My biggest tip here is make sure you are layering the jewelry! You don't have to stick to one necklace, one bracelet, etc! Plus, layering chain jewelry just looks so cool!
6. Beanies
Go ahead and grab yourself a couple different colors of beanies, because I can assure you that if you want to start styling outfits in the grunge aesthetic, you'll be wearing them often!
7. Makeup
Don't be afraid to get bold with your makeup! But, if that's not your thing, some well sculpted eyebrows and a nice, winged eyeliner will do! If you do want to go bold however, I recommend really experimenting with eyeshadow, blush and lipstick looks!
